Note of 03-20-06: A kind reader advised us of this facility and made the following comments:
"Pieces of Eight has 8 seasonal apartment rental units with six units on the ground floor and two units on the second level. The apartments are fully equipped, clean, cozy and the owner is around daily to make sure everything is ok.
"They welcome your pets (they even bring their three-legged dog sometimes) and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. You have only to cross the street to reach the ocean and are within a couple blocks of well known Johns Pass. Behind the apartments are narrow side streets and every block has a dock or a public access to the canal where it is nice to be able to walk your dog. And I am happy to say that the my two dogs have not found any sand burrs in this area.
"Fort Desoto Park is only a short drive away where they have a top notch doggie Paws Park with a dog friendly beach also. This is our second visit to Pieces of Eight and this year we are staying a full three months. It is a place I hope to come back to year after year. In the days of high rise condos and no pets policies, [it is] a welcome relief to find a delightful place like Pieces of Eight."
