Pet Product Reviews

Here's where we - and our pets - report to readers about products and services we have personally tried - and like enough to recommend to other pet people and their pets.

Beneful® Baked Delights™

We gave our six dogs hugs last night without even touching them. Hugs from a box. Chewable hugs. Hugs that tasted better than they felt. While we do indeed wrap our arms around our fur kids frequently, the hugs given out last night were actually Beneful® brand Baked Delights™ a new line of dog snacks from Beneful® brand dog food. "Hugs" is one of four varieties sold; the others have great names too, like "Stars" and "Quacks" and "Snackers."

"Hugs" are crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Because I never feed my dogs something I don't personally try, I had a small bite. I must say they have a pleasant beef/cheese taste and smell pretty good, too. (Yes, I'm THAT kind of doggie mommy!)

Our dogs range in size from 11 pounds up to nearly 60. Although they all went bananas over the smell, the "Hugs" variety of Beneful® brand Baked Delights™ worked better for our two larger dogs. I had to break them into a couple of pieces for the others because they were either too large for the minis with smaller mouths, or a bit too crunchy for the two senior citizens.

Beneful® brand Baked Delights™ debuted in grocery, club and pet specialty stores just a few days ago. According to Purina, an 11-ounce box of snacks has a suggested retail price of $3.99. Any of the varieties would make a tasty Valentines Day gift for your favorite fury friend. Rating: 4 of 5.

Note: This product review was enlisted by Purina. As incentive for our dogs to try the product, Purina supplied our family with a complimentary box of the "Hugs" variety of Beneful® brand Baked Delights™, but did not dictate to us what to write or what rating to provide the product.

Pet Kiss Plaque & Tartar Control

I cannot say enough good stuff about Pet Kiss. It has dramatically diminished doggie breathe around here and limited the necessity of professional dental cleanings within our pack, which has also limited the number of times our dogs have been under dangerous anesthesia. We've used Pet Kiss for over 5 years now. Both our poodle's groomer and our veterinarian tell us the dog teeth in our family look great. Pet Kiss comes in different size bottles. You can order directly through the link above at a great price. Rating: 5 of 5.

NOTE: Pet Kiss did not request a trial of their product, but we used it and loved it so much, we just had to pass the good word. We received no complimentary product in exchange for the above review.

Special note to pet product manufacturers or dealers: We enjoy supporting pet-related businesses, particularly Florida businesses, but sometimes out of state companies make some cool stuff that pets in the Sunshine State could use and I'll support them as well. Please contact me if you manufacture or sell a product for which you'd like some exposure, I'll ask you to send me a sample of your product for one - or all - of our six canines kids to try. After a thorough trial, I'll provide you with an honest written review of the results - right here, on this page.
