Pensacola
Note of 01-07-07: A kind visitor to Florida was recently in this area and sent us the followiing comments:
"We were at Perdido Key yesteray and they do not allow pets on the beach. There were signs everywhere. There was a local woman with her Lab on the beach so we asked and found out that Pensacola allows HOMEOWNER'S with a paid certificate to have pets on some of the special permit beaches with their permit. This does not apply to renters or tourists. The fine without this permit is $500.00. So far Pensacola is the least pet-friendly place we have been."
Note of 02-24-06: A reader tells us she recently spoke with a Parks & Recreation employee and they informed her that dogs are no longer allowed on any of the beaches in Escambia or Santa Rosa counties, which is the Pensacola area, as well as public playgrounds, or any other public areas in either county. She said the dog parks listed here are still open and available for dogs and their humans.
1. Scott Complex Dog Park
Located at the complex on Summit Blvd., just east of 12th Avenue, between the pool and the Roger Scott Tennis Center. Open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. This park is about one acre and has a double gate/exit.
