"Kito" is Swahili for "Jewel"

"I was rescued when I was 8-months-old from Eglin Air Force Base."

Hi, I'm Kito. I'm a 2-year-old Hungarian Vizsla.
I live with my humans, Gloria Overholt and Nick Formica, in Sarasota, Florida.

Gloria said Kito loves being outside with his family, running, jumping and playing fetch.

"He is full of energy and always happy," Gloria said, "Except when its 9:00 p.m. and he's tired!"

That's when Kito is like..."Leave me alone....I get up at 5:30 a.m !"

This is Kito, crashed after a full day of travel and play.

According to Gloria, Kito thinks he only weighs about ten pounds and when they are sitting on the sofa,
he tries to climb up on them like a monkey.

Kito loves his beagle sister, Cricket, who was FloridaPets.net's Pet of the Week for February 21-27.
He loves doing everything with her and they are best friends.

Here is Kito, enjoying a quiet moment with Cricket.

Gloria said little Cricket is the mischievous one and Kito he wants no part of her trouble making.

"We thoroughly enjoy having Kito in our family," Gloria said. "He is an excellent companion to all of us!"

Sounds to us like Kito is living up to the meaning of his name, that he is, indeed, a real "jewel."
