Spring Hill

.

Rotary Centennial Park Dog Park

Opened January 31, 2009, this is Hernando County's first dog park. Hernando County Parks and Recreation personnel will monitor the park closely for a while after opening to make sure all goes well. The Rotary Club of Spring Hill Central worked very hard to raise money for this park and the County contributed financially as well. Users should be respectful of these efforts and follow the rules.

Located at 10375 Sandlor Street, two blocks south of Northcliffe Boulevard and three blocks west of Mariner Boulevard. This is an 8-acre park, 3-acres that is for dogs only. It will be located in the Rotary Centennial Park, on the corner of Landover Boulevard and Sandlor Street, south of Northcliffe Boulevard in Spring Hill. It offers three separate fenced areas - one for small dogs, one for large dogs and the third for guide, therapy or very shy dogs. Open every day from sunrise to sunset, including weekends. For more information, call Hernando County Parks Department at 352-754-4027.

Reader Notes:

"We have been visiting the park about 3 or 4 times a week for the past few weeks and are very impressed at how clean it is and how many people are using it. No matter what day or what time of day, there is always someone there with their dog. Very nice people and nice dogs, they all seem to get along and have a great time running around off leash. I have only seen one dog fight, a minor affair and the owner took the dog out immediately. We are from Massachusetts were there are very few dog parks and are very impressed with this one."

"Park is well laid out and clean. Very friendly, fun atmosphere opening day. Fairly easy to find. Everyone I spoke to was very appreciative and happy to finally have a place to bring their dogs. Very long overdue. Thank you to the Rotary club!"

NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Spring Hill area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
