Satellite Beach

.
Note: Dogs are not permitted on area beaches. Trust us, there is little tolerance for dogs on public beaches in Brevard County, as reflected by comments we receive from readers and from editorials we read in area media outlets.

Satellite Beach Dog Park

Located at Satellite Beach Sports & Recreation Park next to the public library at 750 Jamaica Boulevard. Starting 9/01/07, hours will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and sunday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This off-leash dog park opened in 2002 and now features a 6' fenced area on 1.5 acres next to a natural habitat area, double-gated security entrance area, separate fenced small-dog area, tables and benches under shade trees, memorial brick path, dog-wash and drinking water areas, dog toys, kiddie pools, playground equipment, fire hydrants, waste disposal stations, parking and restrooms.

Note of 07-03-05: Our research tells us there is a $2 admission fee for up to three dogs, $3 for more than three dogs. There is a three-dog-limit per adult. This is one of two off leash dog parks in Brevard County; the other is in Melbourne.

Note of 07-03-05: We have learned there are at least three more dog parks being planned for Brevard County. We'll do our best to keep you informed about them.

Note of 01-10-06: A kind reader (not from the Satellite Beach area) recently visited this park and has provided the following feedback:

"First entry experience was excellent. Did not have all the paperwork that park requires to verify current rabies vaccination, but the attendent allowed us entry anyway, for no fee. Second experience...[different attendant] required a receipt for the rabies vaccination from my county. Park is rather small, but adequate. [Was] advised that expansion is planned."

Note of 05-05-06: A kind reader has told us additional dog parks are in the planning states for future dates at Lori Wilson Park and at Fay Lake Wilderness Park. We'll keep you informed.

Note from Web Mistress: If you are interested in helping develop more pet-friendly areas in Brevard County, you might be interested in checking out Brevard Animal Recreation Club, Inc., also known as BARC.

NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Satellite Beach area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
