Dog Park in Perrine Wayside Park Located in Palmetto Bay. This is a 3-acre park with waste bag stations, pet water fountains, dog washing stations, and a nice lake around which dogs and their people can stroll. Reader Notes: We are fortunate to have a reader provide us with much more informtion about this park. "Our Wayside Park has a big lake on the property (for swimming dogs) -- we have to test the water before approving for use. We plan for the (yet unnamed) dog park to have an agility course, separate free run areas for large and small dogs, water fountains, poop bag stations, restrooms, a digging pit, the (swimming) lake, a gazebo and deck (for feeding lake fish), butterfly plants along the fencing (it's a gorgeous, natural park), and high fencing/landscaping to block out the traffic noise and keep the pets safe. "It will be a membership park. Those without dogs can buy a daily or annual pass. Those with dogs can buy a daily or annual pass, but they have to provide vaccination and licensing records in order to receive their passes. We haven't decided how the membership will be run or what it will cost yet (via electronic gate, tags on collars, etc.) Dog breeds outlawed in Miami-Dade county will NOT be allowed in the park (regardless of vaccination records.)We will need volunteers and sponsors. "The park will be located in the Village of Palmetto Bay, Florida at Southwest 160th Street and US1/South Dixie Highway. It's a roadside park with a lake in the middle. Access to the park will probably be from behind it (so you drive in one block to get to it.) Palmetto Bay Village Hall, 305-259-1234, (for questions not answered via the website.) Please read through the website before calling." NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Palmetto area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
