Featured Pet-Friendly Vacation Spot
Beach Trail Cottages in Indian Rocks Beach,
Pinellas County, Florida
is situated only 100 steps from the Gulf of Mexico. The
establishment whispers
"Old Florida" elegance, complete with covered
porches, tropical plants and shell yards. And it's
pet-friendly too!
Tom and Jan Bowers are the owners of this
peaceful
retreat. They offer five separate, newly renovated
cottages. One is a two-story home built in 1925 that
has two private floors. There are two single story
cottages built in the 1940's and another two bedroom
cottage which was built in 1930.
The Bowers offer reasonable weekly and monthly rates
and do not charge a pet deposit. They do require pet
owners be responsible, keep pets on a leash, and clean
up after their animals. Jan Bowers said pets are not
only welcome, they are adored. You can't be an
inconsiderate guest to that kind of gracious hospitality!
The pet-friendly attitude extends beyond the cottages
to the entire Indian Rocks Beach area. For those who
enjoy getting active with their canine companions,
there's a dog beach on the Belleair Causeway and a
dog park just a few minute's walk from the Beach Trail
Cottages.
So, go ahead. Snatch some time away from your busy
life, grab the family and the fur kids and head to the
small barrier island
known as Indian Rocks Beach. Tom, Jan, the salt air
and the magnificent sunsets are waiting for all of you.

Greetings! It's been a hot, wet and humid summer here
in
northeast Florida. Add in the mild winter we had
last year and you've got the potential for some major
flea
problems.
Scratch, scratch, scratch? Nope, not here. Visitors to
our home are constantly
amazed
that, even
with a six pack of dogs and two cats, there are no
fleas to be found. My pal, Geezer, and I share all our
secrets in my article below, "Getting Florida Fleas to
Flee." Just click on the link to read the good stuff.
We hope you enjoy this issue of the
NewsPetter. Until
next month, thanks for "tailing" along with
FloridaPets.net. Be sure to check out the links at the
bottom of this page for more pet-friendly info. Please
pass the
word about FloridaPets.net and write us with any
suggestions or requests.

Kitty Heaven
By Tina Ann Marie Robinson, age 9
One day, little Alphie was gone. He went over the
rainbow into the clouds high up in the sky, to a place
called Kitty Heaven.
Alphie met a lot of other kittens and grown cats
there.
They
had already been called home. He met Tiger, Smoky,
Fluffly, Cotton, Buttercup, and even old Sam, who had
lived a long, healthy life on earth.
Sam and Tiger looked a lot alike. They were
yellow-striped tabby cats. Smoky was misty gray and
Fluffy was yellow and white striped.
Cotton got her name because she was solid white. She
had blue eyes. Buttercup was yellow and white.
Little Alphie was gray and white, with a gray and
white
belly. He had a gray nose and gray on the tip of his tail.
Alphie's mother was Scarlet, an orange, black, and
brown mixed Maine Coon and Calico cat. He had a
brother named Ben. When you petted Alphie, he
sounded like a motor running. When I gave him food, he
put it in water to soften it. He
played with other cats and with his brother Ben, who
was also gray and white.
When I came home from school, he would be
waiting for
me, if he wasn't busy hunting mice and moles. He slept
on my bed, pushed down my
pillow, and sat on my head.
Because all good little kitties and doggies go to
heaven,
I know Alphie is enjoying Kitty Heaven
and having fun playing with those who went before him.
I know he gladly welcomes the new arrivals and is
glad
to meet and make new friends and play, just as he
did on earth. Now, he is free to play with all of his
friends whenever he wants. He will live forever in Kitty
Heaven, blessed with God's eternal sunshine, love,
and blessings.
Editor's Note: Tina's stepmother, Barbara J.
Robinson, helped Tina write this article. Barbara said it
helped Tina deal with the loss of
her beloved cat. We hope publishing it here will give
Tina a special way to remember her feline friend. Alphie
is pictured above. Look closely. It appears Alphie is
waving to us through a soft, silky haze. Kitty heaven
perhaps?
