Carolyn Meeker Dog Park
This park opened 10-29-07. Located off US 41 and Lutz Lake Fern Road. The 2-acre park has a small dog section and a large dog section as well as a time out spot. Resident dog lovers have a local elementary school to thank for this park. It started as a class project in 2005 and the fifth grade students involved did all the leg work with surveys and research and presenting the idea to county commissioners.
Lake Park
Located 2.3 miles north of Bearss Avenue at 17302 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz, just south of Van Dyke on the corner of Edgewater Drive and Harbor Blvd.
Offers a large wire fenced area with benches, picnic tables, water facilities and plenty of room for your big or small dog to run. The entire park is 600-acres and has five lakes.
Note of 12-03-07: A reader tells us she heard this park
was closed because a new one was opened at 102 First Avenue SW in Lutz.
"I haven't been there yet so cannot comment...but it
was the result of an elementary school project and
sounds nice."
Does anyone have further info about this location and what is offers?
Note of 10-27-07: One of our readers tells us there is a sign at this park that as of 10-24-07, this park will be closed.
Note of 03-27-06: A kind reader tells us this park also offers toys, doggie bags and trash cans. She said there is not a separate area for the big and small dogs. She also said there's no entry fee, but donations are appreciated to help with upkeep.
Note of 03-27-06: Due to the close proximity of this park to the Tampa area, we have cross-referenced it between our pages for Lutz and Tampa Bay area dog parks and pet-friendly beaches.
Note of 06-12-05: A big thank you to the nice FloridaPets.net reader who first told us about this park.
NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Lutz area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
