1. Happy Trails Canine Park

Located on 51st St. West at G.T. Bray Park, about half way between Manatee Avenue and Cortez Rd. This is a three-acre off leash dog park. Hours: dawn to dusk. Features an 8-ft. fence, benches, tables, handicap parking, free waste bags, trees, parking, restrooms (a short walk outside park,) water and trash cans. Has a separate area for small, young or fragile dogs and a separate doggie "time out" area for rowdy dogs.

2. DeSota National Monument Park

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted in this park as long as dog guardians are responsible for proper disposal of dog excrement.

Note of 01-07-07: A kind reader has the following comments about this park:

"It has a wonderful walking trail that allows pets. It winds through grassy areas, ocean view, wooded areas, beach area and sidewalked areas. There are plenty of doggie stations that supply bags and refuse cans. Parking can be somewhat of a problem at times."

NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Bradenton area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
