Apollo Beach Apollo Beach Note: A kind reader advised us of this location, what she called a "semi dog park." It is located in South Hillsborough County. Directions: go south on Rt 41, turn right on Apollo Beach Blvd. (There is a Publix on the right.) Take that street all the way down until it dead ends, go right at the dead end and take that until it dead ends into the park parking lot. Reader Notes: "We went to Apollo Beach and it wasn't too bad. Water seemed a little mucky...but was really warm and the babies LOVED it! Tell everyone to be sure NO ONE goes into the grassy areas towards the beach. We thought we'd take the babies there to 'go'...they ended up with stickers in their paws and faces and on our feet! I believe the grassy areas near the pavillions is better for going potty,but everyone should be aware. Also, you do have to kind of crawl down and then up a little trench like area cut into the little cliff...to get to the water. It wasn't too bad, but the sand does move under your feet." "It's actually a beach, not a park. It is located right near the Teco plant. You can take your dogs there, but they need to be leashed. They can however, play in the water. There really isn't anyone there looking to make sure a dog is on a leash. Many times I have seen people let their dogs play in the water leash free.... you must clean up after your dogs! There are special baggies supplied in case someone forgets to bring one." "There will probably will be people there sunbathing if it's nice, but it's more a walking, take your dog kind of beach, rather than the sunbathing, swimming kind of beach. Just though i would let you know because I go to this park at least 5 times a month with my puppy and he loves it. " "I went to the park today with my golden retriever. Although the park does still exist, the beach is now a cliff - I guess that the weather has been bad to the coastline here - we had to scoot down a 8-10 foot dune - and there was less than 2 ft. of beach before the water began."
