Apollo Beach

Apollo Beach

Note of 01-25-07: A kind reader has advised us of what she calls a "semi dog park." It is located in South Hillsborough County.

"It's actually a beach, not a park," she said. "It is located right near the Teco plant. You can take your dogs there, but they need to be leashed. They can however, play in the water. There really isn't anyone there looking to make sure a dog is on a leash. Many times I have seen people let their dogs play in the water leash free.... you must clean up after your dogs! There are special baggies supplied in case someone forgets to bring one."

Directions: go south on Rt 41, turn right on Apollo Beach Blvd. (There is a Publix on the right.) Take that street all the way down until it dead ends, go right at the dead end and take that until it dead ends into the park parking lot.

"There will probably will be people there sunbathing if it's nice, but it's more a walking, take your dog kind of beach, rather than the sunbathing, swimming kind of beach. Just though i would let you know because I go to this park at least 5 times a month with my puppy and he LOVES it. "

NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Apollo Beach area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
